For a successful implementation of the AI Regulation in Germany...
we examine four key fields of action:
1. designate and shape market surveillance authorities as central AI supervisors.
2. strengthen the role of notified bodies for the conformity assessment of high-risk AI systems
3. design and implement real-world laboratories for regulatory learning and to promote AI innovations
4. harmonize, standardize and develop participatory fundamental rights impact assessments.

About the study
Much has already been written about the transformative power of artificial intelligence (AI), as it is the starting point for far-reaching changes in the economy and society. In the midst of this transformation, the European Union has taken a significant step with the Artificial Intelligence Regulation to steer the use of AI in a trustworthy direction. However, the real challenge and opportunity lies in the national implementation of this framework - especially in the member states. Our current study offers a clear roadmap for the successful national implementation of the EU AI Act in Germany. Based on four key areas of action - from market surveillance and conformity assessment bodies to real-world laboratories and fundamental rights impact assessments - the analysis shows how Germany can act as a pioneer in the field of trustworthy artificial intelligence. The study is aimed at political decision-makers and experts and provides specific recommendations for regulation that combines innovation and the protection of fundamental rights.
